While a sandal may seem like a seasonal, and somewhat limited, option for footwear, I make an exception with Chaco sandals. I normally have to buy brands like Hotter shoes for my large feet, but sandals are rather accommodating for the larger foot, so they also give me more fashion options.
I should say first that I am not a brand specific kind of person generally. I don't have a specific brand of pants, sunglasses, or even cookware that I routinely purchase or use. Typically, I go for quality and affordability, despite the name. However, that's what I find with the Chaco, specifically, the Z1 One-Strap sandal. Simply put, they are the most comfortable shoes I own. The strap is adjustable, your feet can breathe, and they're thick enough (and with enough tread on the bottom) that terrain is not an issue. Their arch support is fantastic, which should be a concern with everyone, but it helps me out a lot. Not many shoes have that. The Chaco company also has a warranty and will resole your sandal for a fairly reasonable price. All practical aspects aside, they don't look half bad either. I've been wearing them every summer, all summer, for about four years now. It's the shoe, and brand, I will stand by. |

Getting married was both expected and a surprise. We chose to be married by the priests of two different religions to pacify each other's families. This was an excellent move. We were married on a Friday night, since that was the night that my fiancee's company had off and all of his friends were available to attend. The church was lit in candles which was a beautiful touch and made the pictures look magical. My dress was exactly what I wanted it to be and all my bridesmaids were the perfect people to pick, and I had one of the most sparkling wedding tiaras I'd ever seen. My bouquet was simple but elegant. When I took my husband's hand, I knew that this was what I wanted. All of this was the expected. The surprise came after the ceremony. A car had hit a power pole, so my the entire reception hall was without power. My relative in the resturant business quickly set up the buffet to be heated by sterno containers. My brothers ran out and got candles. All the guests that the candles were done on purpose and extension of the candle theme in the ceremony. Unfortunately the band sat and drank while the power was out. When the power came on their music was not something that we wanted to hear! The other surprise were the "unknown guests". A family with children were eating that we found out that noone in the family had invited. My parents decided that if the crashers were that desperate to eat a meal, then nothing would be said to them. Getting married was not surprise, but celebrating it was totally unexpected. |

When I remarried for the second time, I wanted my wedding to be special but understated. I was working with a small budget and not much time - so everything had to be on budget - from the wedding shoes to the wedding cake. My husband-to-be was about to be deployed in two months for a six month Navy cruise. So I enlisted the help of some friends and my future mother-in-law to help me make preparations and without them I could have never had a nice wedding. We decided to get married outside at the Pineapple Fountain in Waterfront Park, Charleston, South Carolina. It was a beautiful spot and it was free. I looked up people who could marry us (non religious) and found someone in the yellow pages for a reasonable fee. My dress came from a vintage consignment store my hair and makeup done by my beautician friend and the reception was to be held at the local tavern that we frequented. The day of the wedding started out bad, beginning when I awoke. I had started my "time of the month". It was June and the forecast was 90 degrees plus. We get to the fountain and hundreds of people are there (mainly visitors) and children playing in the fountain. This was not a great backdrop for my wedding or for pictures. The person performing the wedding was late so everyone was literally melting in the hot sun. We had originally written our on vows, but due to time constraints, we never learned them, so we ended up doing the traditional vows. To be honest, the wedding is somewhat of a blur now because of the heat, the meds I was taking to deal with some pain, and my mother-in-law to be who was complaining constantly. We were grateful when the ceremony was over and we could proceed to the reception where the was air conditioning. If I had to do over, I may have just gone to the courthouse and gotten married because my wedding day was very overwhelming. |

A freshwater pearl is a beautiful piece of jewelry that can be made into necklaces, earrings, bracelets and much more. The pearl itself is an irregular round shape that comes from a mussel or oyster. The finished product is a highly polished and beautiful pearl that shimmers under light.
The freshwater pearl is different from sea water harvested pearls for several reasons. The main difference is that they are found in regulated farms where the oyster produces the pearl in a fresh water state. These pearls are also highly irregular and this adds to their beauty. The imperfection of the freshwater pearl makes them unique and ideal for creating high quality and beautiful unique jewelery.
It is important that freshwater pearls are treated with care because over exposure to certain chemicals can ruin their lustre. Pearls will also adapt to your specific skin oils so it is wise that you do not share your pearls! |

Some girls mistakenly believe that more make up equals more appeal. This could not be further from the truth! Girls that have too much make-up on tend to look more like clowns rather than the fresh faced girls they think they are!
This is why nothing beats the natural look. Rather than making you look like drag queen, it highlights your best features and makes you look more confident in yourself. In the words of Lady GaGa “don’t be a drag, just be a queen!”
Now, going au natural does not mean going out with no make up on, it simply means learning how to apply natural looking makeup!
One way to achieve this look is use make up in shades similar to that of your skin tone. This will help conceal any blemishes without making your skin look too pasty. Also, brush on some peach-pink blush to give your cheeks a healthy glow. It is important to do this lightly, so that you keep it from looking too artificial. Then you may finish off with a sweep of rose tinted gloss, to make your lips shine. |

I've loved shoes since I was a little girl - from little barbie-themed trainers I got when I was 5, to my trusty gladiator sandals these days.
However, I also love shoes for their practical purpose too, not just fashion, and want to talk about tennis shoes. When Tretorn tennis shoes appeared, they were very expensive for the times, I think about $40.00. Everyone was wearing tennis shoes at this time and these shoes were very attractive. They had a the thick sole and thick shoe strings and I thought they were just the best. You couldn't buy them at regular shoe store, like Sears or Goldblatts, you had to go to Marshall Fields or a fancy men's store. My friends and i were were anxious to see who would get a pair first. I already had a job, but these shoes were so desirable, I started looking a part timer, so I could get them as soon as possible. I remember, it took me almost four weeks to get the money to buy my shoes. I wasn't the first to get them, but I bet I was the happiest. I still wear Tretorns, I found them on line, can you imagine, after all this time. But let me tell you I still get a kick wearing them. |
