From Gladiator Sandals to Tennis Shoes, My Love Affair with Shoes

I've loved shoes since I was a little girl - from little barbie-themed trainers I got when I was 5, to my trusty gladiator sandals these days.
However, I also love shoes for their practical purpose too, not just fashion, and want to talk about tennis shoes. When Tretorn tennis shoes appeared, they were very expensive for the times, I think about $40.00. Everyone was wearing tennis shoes at this time and these shoes were very attractive. They had a the thick sole and thick shoe strings and I thought they were just the best. You couldn't buy them at regular shoe store, like Sears or Goldblatts, you had to go to Marshall Fields or a fancy men's store. My friends and i were were anxious to see who would get a pair first. I already had a job, but these shoes were so desirable, I started looking a part timer, so I could get them as soon as possible. I remember, it took me almost four weeks to get the money to buy my shoes. I wasn't the first to get them, but I bet I was the happiest. I still wear Tretorns, I found them on line, can you imagine, after all this time. But let me tell you I still get a kick wearing them.
